Hi everyone. with regret we have taken the decision to hold off for a year on our plans to race in the worlds toughest sled dog races. We had a prospective sponsor we were working with let us down last month and are awaiting a decision from an new one, but alas all to late for this season. We had planned to leave in mid september, but after sebastians retirement from the sport and our then arranging to run with Gerry Willomitzer, we didnt have the finances ready and by mid november had missed out on some crucial training that left me deciding that the responsible and sensible choice was to hold off till next season to allow us to arrange a new sponsor and to make sure we got out for the start of the seasons training. The dogs are already quite advanced in their training and we would have had to land with our feet on the runners into the 100 mile back to back runs. For the dogs welfare and to make usre we give it our best effort and to ensure we do oursleves and everyone else proud, it was the only logical choice. I also didnt want to keep Gerry and his team waiting any longer for us to get the sponsorship sorted and get out to him. But fear not, i'm not beaten and although very disapointed am already working towards next seaspn, I WILL GET TO NOME! best wishes to all for now, please hang with us, matt

UK based sled dog musher MATT HAMMERSLEY will attempt to race both THE YUKON QUEST and IDITAROD TRAIL 1000 mile races over the following two winters!
'' It's been my dream to run The Iditarod since I was young. It's taken me 26 years to get up the courage to attempt it. For me, the Dogs are everything and spending time training and running with these incredible atheletes is something amazing. To be part of the 'team' in the true sense of the word and making such a journey to me is the pinnacle of running sled dogs!
During the next 2 years we will be training hard putting in the miles at every hour of day, night, in all weathers and temperatures to make sure we are ready for the long distance races we will attempt.''
PLEASE SUPPORT THE TEAM!
Alaska is the last frontier, a land of snow and ice, of majestic mountians, the frozen interior and the ghosts of the goldrush. Here the sled dog is KING!
In Feb 2012 we will attempt to race THE YUKON QUEST SLED DOG RACE, one of the worlds two 1000 mile races. It traverses the mighty Yukon river and cross the borders of Canada and Alaska.
This will be the first of our two 1000 mile races, using it as a qualifier towards our goal of running THE IDITAROD. The worlds most famous sled dog race!
